Run camp in Edale
A wonderful Escape to Edale weekend where a fantastic group of runners camped for the weekend in Edale. Over three days we had planned a variety of routes of between 3 and 9 miles (all mainly off-road) taking in local landmarks such as Hollins Cross, Jacob’s Ladder and Mam Tor and of course a parkrun on Saturday morning! Wonderful cakes, pub food and pizza also featured…
After setting up camp on Friday afternoon, it was time for a walk up the start of the Pennine Way before a visit to the pub while waiting for the later arrivals.
Saturday morning wouldn’t be complete without parkrun and a visit to Marple a quick train ride away. We were met there by some other runner friends on tour, who sadly couldn’t stick around for the visit to the amazing cake shop breakfast (Lily’s Bread and Wine, Marple, is highly recommended).
Other activities included, Hathersage river trail run, Jacob’s Ladder trail run/walk, Mam Tor run down and Grindleford walk. Normally followed by a pub or café visit.
Look out for this next year, partners and non-runners are welcome, there is lots to do. It’s just a 30-minute train ride to Sheffield or Manchester for shopping, there are café’s, pubs, and lots of walking trail so it’s not just about the running…
